About the Album

The album "Esplendor" (Splendour), was the first and sadly the only album the band Águas Cristalinas recorded, initially part of a project that should follow the names of the Baha’i months and (wishfully thinking) be the first of 19 albums. It was recorded in the spring of 1994 and published on tape as the band didn’t have funds to make CD copies, the money to finance studio, printing of cover art and copies on tape was borrowed from a generous Baha’i family, embarrassed by the circumstances the band members thought they shouldn’t push the budget to values that could cover the price of making a CD and so they refrained to publish the album on tape. The concept of the album was not only to meet the band’s ideal of create a new and universal style of music but also to provide the Baha’i Community with a collection of songs they were familiar with from gatherings and meetings. Therefore the album includes some original titles and a group of those already known songs with a new cover. In 2009 the NSA of Portugal released a CD edition which the cover art was made by the former member Helder Rock.
