Inge Haghighi
Inge loves listening to music from diverse cultural and faith backgrounds. From Celtic Mystical ballads to Native American Chants, Sanskrit Mantras, African drumming to soft and flowing classical music. Music that transpires something beyond the mundane and touches your spirit. She feels inspired by nature, beauty, interactions with people and more than anything the Bahá'í writings.
Her music springs forth from a place of stillness, prayer and meditation. Inge has played and sung with Unicorn Sisters, Indigo Road and Atlantic Bridge. She did a big tour of the UK with her album "Switch me on" in autumn 2000 playing the support slot for David Essex in prestigious venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Edinburgh Festival Theatre etc. Then she took a 6 year break from music to raise her children.
Inge(mother of two) loves spending time with her husband and children, they all share a love of music, the arts, their faith and just enjoy being together. She feels her life is enriched by both her and her husbands family and their many friends.
Her hobbies apart from music include Taí-Chí, walking in beautiful countryside, baking and cooking. Being a Bahaí and thus working towards the unity and well being of mankind is the main focus of her life.
Inge is a member of UNIFEM and is currently organising a fundraising CD and concert for this very worthwhile Charity. Some 15 artists of diverse backgrounds and styles are participating in this project. UNIFEM is the fund at the UN for women. Inge feels very strongly that by helping the women of the world we are also helping the children and whole communities. She feels it is through equality between men and women that the world will progress.
Inge was born in the romantic town of Bruges (Belgium). She has many fond memories of growing up in Belgium and is very grateful to her mother and father for always encouraging her and for all the travelling experiences which broadened her mind and music.
Inge has also lived in England and Spain.
