Águas Cristalinas
The band Águas Cristalinas (Crystal Waters) was formed in 1993 by the members of the Committee for Arts appointed by the NSA of Portugal; their album has been re-released on-line as a tribute to the memory of Nito Silvestre passed away while pioneering.
As three of the four members of this committee were musicians the best idea the found to accomplish the mission they were appointed to was by forming a band which would try to meet the Baha’i principle of “Unity in Diversity”, as the three initial members of the band came from different musical backgrounds, as also as the fact that they were all from different nationalities; and therefore try to make a kind of music that would reflect their individual influences and show how different genres mixed together wouldn’t collide.
And so the band was formed by:
Katherine Fiero – Classical musician playing Celtic Harp. Nito Silvestre - Afro musician playing Guitar and vocals. Helder Rock - Hard and Symphonic Rock musician playing Keyboards. The trio then decided that the band wouldn’t be complete without the contribution, both instrumental and musical expertise of:
Mike Ross - Jazz and Big Bands musician playing Bass guitar.
And so the band carried out with live performances both on Baha'i proclamations and teaching events which included on July 1994 participation in the "Shaping Europe" conference held by The European Bahá'í Youth Council in Barcelona.
Due to several circumstances the band had to split in the mid-1995.
Just a few years later Nito Silvestre passed away in consequence of a car accident whilst pioneering in Mozambique.
Having this music album published by DivineNotes.com is the tribute of the remaining members to his memory as he was the most enthusiastic member of the band.
